God in the Natural World

This week we explore the presence of God as we stand in awe before the natural world.

Job 38 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Lord Answers Job

38:1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:

2 “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Dress for action[a] like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.

4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 On what were its bases sunk,
    or who laid its cornerstone,
7 when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Names of God - A Reflection by Nick Viramontes

"Elohim" Mighty creator "El-olam" Everlasting God
You were the foundation before time knew it's own beginning ..
And you are the everlasting substantial lover and knower of all things
You are both creator and and the breath of life
And though you stand outside The corners of space and time
We see you here...

You are the beauty in the sunsets that spill across the sky...
You are the gentle breeze That moves the leaves,
You are the breath that gave us life...
From a baby's first cry, till he closes his eyes...
We see you in the world around us, in ways we can't describe...
You are the flowing river that sings of peace beside its banks...
With a current strong enough to wash all sins away...
From the mighty reach of each and every mountain, to the oceans wide...
The depth of which remains unseen by any eye..
From the mighty storm clouds' bellowing crack of thunder...
The secrets of the stars, that have yet to be discovered...

You are the greatest artist,
scientist...
and lover...
