What it's all about.
The annual KCAPS Food Drive stocks KCAPS' food pantry for the upcoming year. This event is foundational for KCAPS to be able to provide food for families in need. Paper bags are distributed the weekend before the food drive and the hope is that families would fill them with nonperishable goods. The bags are placed on front porches for Wednesday night collection. Once the bags are collected they are taken to KCAPS, organized, and stored in KCAPS' food pantry. This is a community wide effort to help KCAPS care for those who need a little assistance.
5:00pm // Meet in the coffee room at KCC
5:30pm // Leaders will carpool students to the Younglife building for orientation
6pm // Collect donations and deliver to KCAPS
8pm // Pizza at KCAPS
8:30pm // Students are to be picked up from KCAPS
Our students participate in this event by being collectors. Our leaders drive students to their assigned area of Kingsburg and students collect bags from front porches. Our students always stay in groups, are constantly monitored by the leaders, and under no circumstances enter homes.
How you can help.
Fill your paper bag with nonperishable groceries and place it on your front porch the night of the event. Please remind your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. KCAPS always needs more volunteers the night of the event; you could drive students or be at KCAPS to help unload vehicles and stock shelves. Contact Brian Gai or KCAPS (559-897-4567) if you're interested in helping the night of the event.
